The Hip Opinion

In a word: YES! Smoking is bad for you…Ask any smoker…They (we) all know this. And we are all trying to quit. That would be almost 50 million of us that know it’s bad… And yet we keep doing it… What a trip!

How do you know it’s bad? It says (in effect) that it will kill you right on the side of the pack… Smoking contains carbon monoxide… Isn’t that deadly?

Many cigarette companies offer little pamphlets in the pack or carton that offer websites and tools to help you quit… Perhaps even THEY know it’s bad for you. Go figure… Or it may be that they have been in hot water before because of lawsuits. They knew it kills people and is very addictive…And they made it more addictive. So are they responsible? I don’t know..We smokers already know it’s bad for you… Right?

Gee after typing all that I need a smoke…

IS Jesus God? Or was he just a “good guy” with great teachings? This is the age old question. It’s something that has to be ironed out for each individual… I didn’t come to believe this because somebody else told me… I decided to look into it myself through study of The Bible and other books… No TV preacher was going to convince me of ANYTHING.

Hey I never force these things down anybody’s throat. Jesus himself usually made it easy for people to walk away… He never forced anything. Everyone is welcome to believe or not to believe.. That was his style.

I have had my doubts…And that’s OK… Jesus was OK with skeptics too… Like “Doubting Thomas” But after lots of debating and investigation my conclusion is that he is what he claimed to be…God in the flesh.

Now…Am I gonna fight with everyone and try to make them see and interpret God the way I see him? No… God has already done it all for me. Jesus (God or not) will not be silenced… Truth is stranger than fiction…Agree?

Most religions are good… They all teach similar things. They all have similar beliefs with Christianity. Incarnation and life after death. Good stuff! Don’t they all pursue moral standards and guides to walk with a Higher Power?

They certainly don’t lead people to do the horrible things that we humans tend to want to do…You know, our backstabbing gossiping lying cheating murderous ways. I have never really studied Witchcraft or darker religions like Satanism but I suspect even they don’t condone such wicked things that us human’s get into…

“Tho shall become an outlaw” Is that a religious doctrine?

So what is different about Christianity anyways? Why not just do one that works for you? The USA has freedom of religion over here… Ya dig?

The one main difference I can see is grace… Unmerited favor. This Christian doctrine is in conflict with human desires to earn our way to God.

• The Hindu Doctrine of Karma
• The Jewish Covenant
• The Muslim Code of Law

In the Christian religion God already did all the work for us. Behavior has nothing to do with it. And when we believe it -He changes us. And we accept his help because we are thankful.

Oh there are tons of ways to look at religion and Christianity. But grace resounds throughout.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Eph:2 8
