Church Shopping and Hopping

I didn’t go to any church for a long time… I was a bit angry and trying to decide rather God was actually real… Or that perhaps my belief in Him was incorrect… I started questioning a lot of my hard studied theology….

I realize now of course that all that is in vain. The only way to find any peace is to “Trust and Obey” Yep, there’s no other way… Been there done that…

So, as a man without a church
I have done a bit of looking around… I been over to the church that I first got involved in… It’s still about the same. Many of the same people… I love that church but is that were I’m supposed to go? I’m asking around.

Today I went to a medium size “full gospel church”
Tulsa…The Full Gospel capital of the world. There was the usual hour plus of praise music, yelling out, jumping, dancing, prophecy, dream interpretation and tough talking… Then the actual preaching began…

There was a coffee shop right in the church… I got a $4.50 cup of mocha that I drank during the singing. The coffee wasn’t all that great but the service was good fun…I doubt I’ll join em tho… I’ll probably just get back to the good ol traditional church…Quit the jumping around scene…

Is God a Republican?

February 27, 2009 By: DaveStuff2 Category: Beliefs, Weirdness No Comments →

Being here in Oklahoma most folks are republican… Rather they go to church or not… It has always baffled me about how Christians have somehow gathered together as some kind of massive republican army… It’s very strange. I assume it has to do with the fight against evil and all.

The people in Jesus’s day were looking for a Messiah to overcome the Roman occupation. Someone to save them from the evil of that government. Jesus didn’t seem too interested in this cause. In fact I don’t think he was interested in politics at all. He seemed to talk more about loving enemy’s and stuff… Ushering a new kingdom based on love.

Perhaps that’s what the church should consider working on. Instead of moral rights and family values, lets work on loving unconditionally and help usher in a new kingdom on earth. Overcoming the world and bringing in a new kingdom.

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Easier said than done but you gotta start somewhere right? It’s all “Emerging Church” stuff that I’ll blog about later… You dig?
