Do all Religions Teach the Same Thing?

Most religions are good… They all teach similar things. They all have similar beliefs with Christianity. Incarnation and life after death. Good stuff! Don’t they all pursue moral standards and guides to walk with a Higher Power?

They certainly don’t lead people to do the horrible things that we humans tend to want to do…You know, our backstabbing gossiping lying cheating murderous ways. I have never really studied Witchcraft or darker religions like Satanism but I suspect even they don’t condone such wicked things that us human’s get into…

“Tho shall become an outlaw”
Is that a religious doctrine?

So what is different about Christianity anyways?
Why not just do one that works for you? The USA has freedom of religion over here… Ya dig?

The one main difference I can see is grace… Unmerited favor. This Christian doctrine is in conflict with human desires to earn our way to God.

  • The Buddhist Eight Fold Path
  • The Hindu Doctrine of Karma
  • The Jewish Covenant
  • The Muslim Code of Law

In the Christian religion God already did all the work for us. Behavior has nothing to do with it. And when we believe it -He changes us. And we accept his help because we are thankful.

Oh there are tons of ways to look at religion and Christianity. But grace resounds throughout.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Eph:2 8

Church Shopping and Hopping

A picture of Pisgah Baptist Church in Four Oak...

I didn’t go to any church for a long time… I was a bit angry and trying to decide rather God was actually real… Or that perhaps my belief in Him was incorrect… I started questioning a lot of my hard studied theology….

I realize now of course that all that is in vain. The only way to find any peace is to “Trust and Obey” Yep, there’s no other way… Been there done that…

So, as a man without a church
I have done a bit of looking around… I been over to the church that I first got involved in… It’s still about the same. Many of the same people… I love that church but is that were I’m supposed to go? I’m asking around.

Today I went to a medium size “full gospel church”
Tulsa…The Full Gospel capital of the world. There was the usual hour plus of praise music, yelling out, jumping, dancing, prophecy, dream interpretation and tough talking… Then the actual preaching began…

There was a coffee shop right in the church… I got a $4.50 cup of mocha that I drank during the singing. The coffee wasn’t all that great but the service was good fun…I doubt I’ll join em tho… I’ll probably just get back to the good ol traditional church…Quit the jumping around scene…

The Rapture and Getting Left Behind

The reflection nebula NGC 1999 is brilliantly ...
Image via Wikipedia

I was channel surfing the other night and came across “Law and Order” on the TV. They were investigating some murder involving people who ran a website that sends out Emails to loved ones that were left behind after the “secret”rapture.

The show made believers look like a bunch of hypocritical swindling idiots. Was I offended? Not really. Maybe because this prophecy stuff has been swimming in popular culture for decades… Now people are tending to take it with a grain of salt. People preaching “END TIMES” is getting old as the years roll by.

I discovered today that there are sites
that actually do this post rapture emailing stuff. It only costs about $40 per year… I guess that’s a good investment for eternity… Hmmmm?

Is God going to “catch away” believers before the horrors described in the Bible take place? Nobody knows… It sure is fun to think about. But is it deceiving millions?

But SOMETHING BIG is gonna happen.. You dig?

29“Immediately after the distress of those days
” ‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’[a]

30“At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

Mathew 24:29-31
