How was the Bible Put Together? Catholics?

With my passion of the Bible and spirituality I have often wondered how the bible was put together..  With the permission of a close friend of mine I have taken the liberty to use some of her extensive research to consider this…  The Hip Opinion hopes you enjoy 🙂

First let’s consider a few players in the drama…..

The Council of Nicene

The Council of Nicene was where the Emperor Constantine brought together a group of leaders and they decided ‘which’ letters and scrolls would be ‘the Bible’ and decided on the deity of Jesus. Around the year 400 or so.

The Council of Jerusalem

The Council of Jerusalem was an apostolic group that decided on the ‘rules’ of Christianity about 50 years after Jesus died, and THAT was the group that decided Gentiles could finally become Christians

Until then, even people who were Gentiles who ‘converted’ to Jesus’ way of thinking were then considered JEWISH. Yeah, several different sects, like Pharisees, Saducees and Essenes.  With me?

Its history right? (more…)

ARZ – Prog Rock Duo – Progressive Rock is Alive and Well

ARZ ARZ is a progressive rock band from Portland Oregon.   These guys are crazy talented.   Reminds me of back in the day when I was a big Rush fan. The music sounds similar and just as tight… But with only 2 people.

From what I have heard so far these guys have got to be the hardest working musicians in Portland…  They are currently working on a new record and already have several projects going at the same time… They also play live in several bands throughout town,  are music teachers and both are working on independent recording projects.

If you check out the video posted you can see the winding arrangements and complex instrumentation…All done LIVE by 2 people… And it’s incredibly tight.  The song is way catchy too. (more…)

The Gospel of Benny Hinn?

Benny Hinn

I have been thinking a lot about the gospels that are preached on television in conjuncture with my own personal struggles with life and financial obligations.. Benny Hinn is certainly one of the most famous and I had a little idea! This is a rework of an old post from 2008… See, I was unemployed.

In my ongoing quest to make enough money to survive I considered finding a job with a major TV ministry. I have believed the Bible for many years and thought that perhaps these guys could use an unskilled ex party animal junkie like myself to help further their cause.

They seem to generate a lot of capital so adding me to the staff somehow could help me get out of this self inflicted financial mess… (or ½ self inflicted, I had PLENTY of help getting there)

I thought of a good position for me…. I could be a “catcher” during the Benny Hinn rallies. You know… He’s the guy that is standing behind the person that faints from God’s awesome power when Benn waves his hand at them. They catch the person that is ‘slain in the spirit’ I think that would be a good job for me because I know I ain’t gonna be falling down – ya dig?

Now where would I apply for a job like that?

Knock – Knock: Daves Not Here!

Hey.. How’s it going? My name’s Dave… Uh.. .hehe.. “Daves not here” hehe..  Yeah yeah…’

It’s a cheech and chong joke that I been hearing for years.  “Dave’s not here” hehe…

And your right… I ain’t been here for a bit… I like to take a hiatus from posting on this blog… Just because I own it and I can post as little or as much as I want… You know?

What does that have to do with “Dave’s not here”? Nothing…. (more…)
