What’s Wrong with Organized Religion?

Irreligion around the world .

I hear it all the time; “ I don’t like organized religion”

They say “why is something that is supposed to be organized so un- organized”.

Tis true, I’m afraid. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to how organized the major religions are.  And, because the tend to bicker with each other (and themselves) then many people are obviously turned off by this sort of thing.

With good reason…Who wants all that drama anyways?

Well, millions of people it seems. So given that kinda record there must be something to it right?  To be completely against organized religeion is a bit silly.  Millions of people look to it for hope an direction for life.

So are all these people weak? Or maybe in need of a “crutch” They can’t seem to find their own direction so they need something else to lean on? Or a book of rules to tell them how to live?

I don’t think so.  Believing in something in my experience points to strength, not weakness.  It is far easier for me to “let myself go” and do what I want rather than try to be obedient to some moral laws. It’s easy to simply do what feels good.  –  And trust me, I know how to do that 🙂

So, recently… I joined up. It’s all good, except I don’t get to sleep in till noon on Sundays anymore.

Micro Blogging On Facebook

Well, my latest pastime has been microblogging  on facebook and other social networks.. Its  guaranteed reading and often commented on.

I thought that since I am putting considerable energy and effort into this perhaps I should post these status updates here on the blog I own… At least the blog would get more updates.

My latest brainstorm has been the continuing story of My Homeboy Jesus and our adventures.  It is a biblically based fictional storyline that just popped into my head one day.

The fist post got a lot of attention.

My Homeboy Jesus said: How bout ya let Me drive for awhile? I said: What for? He said: Cause I’m a better Driver than you dawg. I said: I dunno… See.. I can drive pretty darn good..Look here…Check, this…out……..CRASH. Right on Bro.. (handed Him the keys)

My second post was ignored (or not commented on)

My HomeBoy Jesus said: You jacked yer car, wassup? I said: I’ll tell ya. I got big plans, you dig? I’m gonna work and work, beg, borrow and save to get this bad boy rolling ASAP. He said: I can get it done for free dawg. I said; What? Come on now? He said. Trust Me Bro…

It may be too “far out” perhaps for some folks to get… Not any more in my opinion than the “Left Behind” series or the book “The Shack”

My ideas for this style of Bible based ramblings continues.. Perhaps I’ll start a new Topic on this storyline and simply post them here, then share it with a link on facebook and elsewhere.

In any case I think I’ll try to post any more other interesting microblogging ideas I come up with here at the Hip Opinion and perhaps explain myself better. I’m not sure folks are getting all this silly stuff.

And of course, it’s for entertainment purposes only 🙂

Who’s playing the guitar on Beatles records?

Ever wonder which guy in the Beatles is playing the guitar? They were all guitar players right? There seems to be some mixed opinions about this.

It has been known for years that Geogre Harrison brought in Eric Clapton to play the leads on While my Guitar Gently weeps during the White Album sessions.  I have often wondered who else is playing on that record. They were really starting to get on each other’s nerves by then.

Well, I was just reading a Beatles magazine that my daughter brought home for me and it has a articla about the recording of the Revlover album. It seems that Harrison was struggling with the solo on “Taxman”. He goofed with it for a few hours and Gearge Martin suggested that Paul give it a try.

So apparently Paul plays the guitar solo on Taxman. A Harrison song.

It says also that Paul plays the solo for the Lennon song Good Morning on the Sgt Pepper album. Geeze….Who knew?

Guess you can learn something everyday. Especially  when your kid brings home a magazine.

Opinions from the Tulsa World

I was reading the Tulsa World‘s website the other day. It was talking about a guy that got stabbed several times in his apartment complex. It was a violent crime. It happened in a poor neighborhood.  There are lots of minorities there and crime and stuff.

Incredibly the guy survived thanks to the efforts of the ambulance staff and emergency room at the hospital. He was in critical condition but they stabilized him. It appears he’s going to be OK.

What I found interesting however was the comments that people were leaving under the story.  Of course that’s what this site is all about… Opinions. Fortunately I own this site and can write a whole article myself about  opinions that I see elswhere… The search engines can find it and my opinion will stand out bigger than those that get posted on a newspaper site… You dig?

The comment that caught my attention said:

Who’s going to pay his medical bill?
That was all it said.

Well, isn’t that the question of the day? I mean, he lives there right? He MUST be a criminal. You know… one of  “those” people and obviously doesn’t have any money or insurance.

So what would you suggest? I’m sure he was up to no good… They should just let him go on and bleed to death huh? Why should US taxpayers pay for something he probably deserved anyways right?

Do me a favor hipsters… If I ever say anything that cold and rediculous on this site, please spam and hack the hell out of this domain until it completely crashes…

Thanks! Peace to ya’ll!

Top 10 Worldly Problems. Solutions?

Well we all got problems don’t we? A quick surf of the net or a newscast on TV will abundantly confirm this.

I like to ponder stuff you know? I like to try and “figure it all out”. And wonder what a “Higher Power” should be doing about all this.  He is supposed to be all powerful right? Can’t He fix this world that we humans have totally screwed up?

Or is it up to us? Religious people tend to be just trying to hold on until they get to the great by and by. Right? I mean, I have heard it said. “This is not our home, our home is in heaven”

Jesus is coming, right? Could be today! But, what if it’s not for another 50 millennia? Hey, that’s a long time.  There’s gonna be a lot of generations of people that have to try and make due until they get to heaven. Meanwhile the world get’s worse.

Big Global Problems

  • Hunger and malnutrition
  • Climate Change
  • Conflicts
  • Financial instability
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Subsidies and Trade Barriers
  • Population/migration
  • Communicable diseases
  • Education
  • Governance and corruption

What a list.  those are real problems.  Who is gonna fix this mess?

I have heard Bible teachers say that this “fallen world is too far gone to be fixed. It will take a complete regeneration from God to fix this. ”

Maybe. But, perhaps talking about it would help to get ideas to give the Big Guy a hand in it. Most of us have children and grandchildren right? Each of us do our part?

I’m just a middle aged hipster. I probably got a few years before I go to the pearly gates.  Perhaps, there is SOMETHING I could do to make a difference here and now. You dig?
